HOW TO: Amy Adams Oscar 2014 Hair & Makeup

3 Mar

By Christabelle… @CBellesCloset (*Pure Editorial, Non-Paid Post)

Amy Adams looked divine last night in her sapphire blue Gucci gown, but her look would never have been complete without her magical hair style and lip color.

Now YOU can replicate her stunning hair and makeup looks at home with Kérastase, Tom Ford Beauty and Laura Mercier…

Amy Adams Oscar Look

Celebrity Hairstylist Renato Campora for Kérastase used products from the brand’s Couture Styling collection to give Amy a slick-backed, sculpted French twist. “We wanted the hair to compliment the dress. It’s very classic and elegant,” says Renato.

She donned a neutral yet punchy combination of two lip colors: Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Cozy topped with Tom Ford Beauty Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Rose Crush, according to makeup artist Stephen Sollitto, who created her Oscar 2014 face.

How to Create Amy’s Hair Look:

Step 1: On wet hair apply Kérastase Mousse Bouffante

Step 2: Part the hair on the left side, distributing Kérastase Forme Fatale from mid-lengths to ends and blow dry with a round brush

Step 3: Take the top section and separate it from the rest of the hair

Step 4: Create a French twist with the remaining back section and pin into place with bobby pins

Step 5: Apply Kérastase Forme Fatale throughout all sections for optimal shine

Step 6: Curl the remaining top section with a 1″ barrel iron to create waves. Let the hair cool and brush through

Step 7: Pull the top lengths back, combining them into the French Twist and pin

Step 8: Polish off the look with Kérastase Laque Couture

JESSICA BIEL – GET HER OSCAR 2014 FACE AT HOME

MAKEUP ARTIST: Kayleen McAdams, ck one color global makeup artist

INSPIRATION: “I wanted to do something really fresh, light and feminine. There were so many beautiful pastels in her dress, so I played with those tones.”

Jess Biel Oscar Look 2014

KAYLEEN’S STEP-BY-STEP:

  1. I prepped Jessica’ skin with moisturizing face and eye products, Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream Intense Hydration and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado, to give her makeup a good base to stick to.
  2. Then, I used a damp Beauty Blender to apply ck one 3-in-1 face makeup with SPF 8 in fair 200, followed by ck one 3-in-1 concealer in light 1 underneath the eyes, around the nose, and along the edges of her mouth to even out her skin.
  3. I used Charlotte Tilbury Sculpt and Highlight Powder on the tops of Jessica’s cheekbones, down her nose, and on her cupid’s bow.
  4. I finished her skin with ck one cream + powder blush duo in breath 100 right on the apples of her cheeks and set it with the powder side of the product to give the look staying power throughout the night.
  5. For Jessica’s eyes, I started by using a fluffy brush to apply ck one cream + powder bronzer duo in deeply bronzed 400 all over the lid.
  6. Then, I used ck one powder eyeshadow in expose and evolved on the inner corners of the eye and along the lash line at the outer corners.
  7. I completed her eye with two coats of ck one volumizing mascara on the top lashes to pump up the lashes.
  8. Then, I applied the same mascara onto an eyelash comb and combed through the bottom lashes to slightly darken them.
  9. For Jessica’s lips, I used Tarte Lip Surgence in Lucky to cover her whole lip with a matte pink; I also used this product in the center of her lips to give dimension and add moisture to her look.
  10. Lastly, I gave Jessica’s lips a good coating of Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Lip Balm to soak in while I did her eyes.

Top 3 Oscar Hair How-Tos

3 Mar

By Christabelle… @CBellesCloset (*Pure Editorial, Non-Paid Post)

Hollywood’s biggest night celebrated the 86th Academy Awards last night and stars showed off glamorous, elegant and chic hairstyles to compliment their red carpet look!  Jenny Balding, NYC Cutler/Redken Styling and Grooming Expert, shares her three favorite Oscar styles and steps for how your readers can recreate these looks for their personal red carpet event.

Oscar Collage

Cate Blanchett, Best Actress Winner – “This beautiful, classic vintage Hollywood style is refreshing as it isn’t a faux bob or very long but it’s just right, at the shoulder.  The key to this look is to create the wave just through the front section and throughout the perimeter of the hair.” – Jenny Balding

Create the Look!

  • Create a deep side part wherever works best for your face shape and hairline.
  • Blow dry smooth and keep to just a natural volume for this look.
  • Mist hair with a light and versatile hairspray like Redken fashion work 12
  • Use a medium size curling iron and start by creating the front section first as this will set the tone.  Create the wave from underneath the cheekbone.
  • Hold the iron vertically and wrap from mid-length to the ends.
  • Finish by setting the hair with a stronger hold hairspray.  Redken control addict 28 is perfect for this as it holds and creates shine.

Olivia Wilde – “This is a stunning, swept up, Brigitte Bardot inspired style and compliments her black and white gown beautifully.  Her graphic black eyeliner adds a 60’s inspired feel to the whole ensemble.” – Jenny Balding

Create the Look!

  • Start by blow drying hair with a round brush to create body, volume and slight wave to the ends.
  • Separate into two sections.  Take the crown and front section and pin to one side then leave the underneath section out.
  • Sweep the underneath section into a chignon that hugs the curve of the head.
  • Take the top section and back brush under the crown area to create padding and volume and twist lightly and secure into chignon.
  • Finish by gently loosening some shorter pieces to frame the face and mist with a light hairspray –  I love Redken fashion work 12 and it is very versatile and light to work with.

Charlize Theron – “Charlize is simply stunning with her sleek, smooth, grown out pixie which complimented her sleek gown with clean lines.  If you have a shorter hairstyle you can style it in so many ways, this, being one of them.” – Jenny Balding

Create the Look!

Charlize has naturally wavy hair so you can also recreate this look with a few simple steps.

  • Apply a smoothing, straightening balm, Redken align 12, to clean wet hair.
  • Blow dry smooth and wrap the hair back and forward to prevent creating volume.
  • Create a deep side part which works best for your face shape and hairline.
  • Sweep and tuck behind ears.
  • I love Cutler Flyaway stick which is perfect for keeping your strands sleek and glossy all over.
